ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit and his wife, Alison, used an unconventional method when trying to have sons.

During an Aug. 25 appearance on the “Bussin’ With the Boys” podcast, Herbstreit shared the couple’s “secret” to welcoming four boys.

“My wife was a gymnast. So, when we would get done with…,” he said, trailing off suggestively. “She heard that the male sperm were faster. She would do a headstand or handstand [after sex]. She would go up on the bed, and we’re four for four.”

“Bussin’ With the Boys” cohost and Tennessee Titans alum Taylor Lewan admitted that he and his wife, Taylin, tried the same tactic once.

“My second, we did the same thing. My wife was not a gymnast, so I held her legs,” Lewan said. “We’re both laughing about it. I’m like, ‘Sweetheart, we’re getting the boy this time.’”

The post-coitus trick — which is not scientifically proven to influence the sex of the baby — didn’t work for Lewan. He shares three daughters with Taylin.

Noted NFL alum and girl dad Jason Kelce joked that he and his wife, Kylie Kelce, should try the technique, resharing the podcast clip of Herbstreit via X and tagging Kylie. Jason and Kylie share four daughters — Wyatt, 6, Elliotte, 5, Bennett, 3, and Finley, 1.

Despite Jason’s playful repost, he and Kylie have both made it clear that they’re happy with their daughters.

“I mean, listen, if a boy happened, that would be fun. But I think at the end of the day, I say what my dad always said: We’re very blessed to have four healthy, smart, charismatic, amazing children, and I would not trade any of that for a second,” Jason said during a September 2025 appearance on “Bussin’ With the Boys.”

Kylie gave a “reminder that we do not ask people who have children of one gender if they are going to try for the other one” during an August 2026 episode of her “Not Gonna Lie” podcast.

“We got to cut that out because I have four kids that I love dearly. My husband and I are so fortunate to have the girls that we have. We’re so fortunate to have the children we have,” she said. “And I think that we are not less fulfilled because we have four girls. So your suggestion of, like, you are not living a fulfilled life without a son is silly.”
