The 2026 ATP US Open tournament moves into the second round. The 128-player field was down to 71 players after Tuesday. Seven first-round matches remained incomplete heading into Wednesday due to rain in New York, with Marcos Giron versus Ignacio Buse being one of them. Novak Djokovic and Jannik Sinner aren’t among those 71 players, opening the door for a lot of ATP players to make a push at a first Major title. Carlos Alcaraz is in the field, but he is not serving at full speed due to his wrist injury which kept him out for several months. He is a contender for the title but not an obvious favorite the way he used to be when he was playing at full strength. A number of Americans have a real chance to do something special in this tournament at the USTA National Tennis Center. Taylor Fritz, Ben Shelton, Frances Tiafoe, and Brandon Nakashima are all in the mix, trying to catch fire and win the first ATP U.S. Open title by an American since Andy Roddick in 2003. The last Major tournament of the year is freighted with enormous importance for so many players. That’s a big part of what makes the US Open such a compelling tennis tournament. Marcos Giron – Ignacio Buse: 12:30 EST
H2H: 0-1
Ignacio Buse won an ATP Tour title at Winston-Salem this past weekend. With the rain in New York washing out some Tuesday ATP US Open matches, Buse gets one more day of rest for this delayed first-rounder. Marcos Giron has lost three of his last four matches, but he is 15-11 on hardcourts this year.
Best Bet to Make
Welcome to our best bet section. You’re going to get a collection of bets to consider, also a confidence level which should guide how much you should invest in this match.
Parlay/hedge options: Giron +4.5 games at 1.61 at @unibet
Confidence level on a scale of 1-10: 4 – You should not bet more than half a unit on this match.
Buse should be better than Giron, but Buse could be mentally exhausted after winning Winston-Salem. Therefore, don’t bet too much on this one. Getting an extra day of rest might only make Buse a little more restless after his ATP 250 title over the past weekend, but he is the more in-form player by far. It’s not a lock that Buse will win, but he is more likely to win than not.
That being said, betting on Buse moneyline is the best bet you can make.
Value bet/ the best odds: Buse moneyline at 1.67 at @WilliamHill
Denis Shapovalov – Luca Van Assche: 14:30 EST
H2H: 1-0
This ATP US Open second-rounder looks like a close match. Denis Shapovalov is 9-9 on hardcourts this year. Luca Van Assche is 13-8 on the surface. Shapo is No. 40 in the ATP rankings, while Van Assche is No. 48. Shapovalov is the clear sportsbook favorite even though he has not enjoyed a particularly successful 2026 season and is 2-3 in his last five matches. Van Assche is 4-1 in his last five matches, but three of those matches were at a challenger-level event.

Best Bet to Make
Parlay/hedge options: Shapovalov moneyline at 1.76 at @pinnacle
Confidence level on a scale of 1-10: 1 – you should not bet on this match.
This ATP US Open match feels very coin-flippy, so don’t bet on it. If you insist, though, Van Assche +1.5 sets (meaning he will win at least two sets) makes sense because the match figures to be close and tight all the way.
That being said, betting on Van Assche +1.5 sets is the best bet you can make
Value bet/ the best odds: Van Assche +1.5 sets at 1.66 @unibet
Jiri Lehecka – Toby Samuel: 14:45 EST
H2H: 0-0
This ATP US Open match carries some intrigue, because Toby Samuel continues to impress. He is 27-4 on hardcourts this year, collecting a lot of wins in challengers and smaller tournaments … but he keeps winning. He beat a diminished version of Tomas Machac in the first round. Machac is sluggish right now due to an injury recovery, but Samuel still beat him in straight sets and looked good. Samuel, ranked outside the top 100 entering this tournament, will now try to beat top-20 opponent Jiri Lehecka, who is 14-9 on hardcourts this season.
Best Bet to Make
Parlay/hedge options: Samuel +5.5 games at 1.72 at @unibet
Confidence level on a scale of 1-10: 4 – you should not bet more than half a unit on this match.
Jiri Lehecka is not the most trustworthy player around, but he is ranked almost 90 spots higher than Toby Samuel and should be able to win this ATP US Open match in four sets. He doesn’t have to win in straights; just as long as he isn’t dragged into a fifth set, the bet will win.
That being said, betting on Lehecka -1.5 sets is the best bet you can make
Value bet/ the best odds: Lehecka -1.5 sets at 1.73 @1xbet
