Amazon India has set out the impact of its expanded operations network in West Bengal, following the launch of a fulfilment centre in the state in 2024.
The facility, located in Panchla, Howrah, offers 1.1 million cubic feet of storage capacity. In 2025, the company added four new delivery stations in Bengal, taking its last-mile delivery network in the state to more than 100 delivery stations. The network now comprises two fulfilment centres, three sort centres and over 100 delivery stations, covering cities including Asansol, Bankura, Durgapur, Howrah, Kharagpur and Malda.
According to Amazon, this infrastructure has contributed to faster delivery speeds in the state, with 40 per cent of customer orders in West Bengal now delivered within the same day or next day.
Karan Chugh, director of operations, Amazon India, said the company’s focus had been on moving closer to customers and sellers to serve them more reliably. He said Amazon plans to invest more than ₹2,800 crore (approximately $300 million) this year to further strengthen its operations network and technology, with the investment directed towards expanding and upgrading facilities as well as associate safety, health and financial wellbeing. He added that the company intends to continue investing in its West Bengal and pan-India networks.
Amazon said over 70,000 sellers and 20,000 local shops from Bengal are currently onboarded on its platform. The company’s Bengal fulfilment centre stores what it describes as “lakhs of products”, supporting a wider product selection for same or next-day delivery, along with faster order processing and dispatch.
Amazon reported growing customer demand across cities including Asansol, Bankura, Durgapur, Howrah, Kharagpur and Malda, particularly in categories such as mobile phones, consumer electronics, beauty, grocery and personal care. Ahead of Prime Day 2026, the company said its expanded network, including the newly launched delivery stations, is operational across the region.
Amazon said its expanded operations network in the state is creating direct, indirect and seasonal job opportunities, including roles such as team leads, process assistants, fulfilment associates, sortation associates and delivery associates.
The company said its facilities are built with safety-focused infrastructure, including enhanced ventilation, fans and improved rest areas for employees and associates.
