Samsung looks set to give its Galaxy Watch line a health-focused, AI-driven upgrade, going by a fresh press statement issued ahead of the company’s Galaxy Unpacked event on July 22. While Samsung has not confirmed any specific device, the messaging leaves little doubt about where the wearable is headed.
The company said mobile devices remain the primary gateway through which people access artificial intelligence in daily life, adding that its focus is on integrating AI “seamlessly, intuitively and in ways that truly offer support.” Samsung described the Galaxy Watch as a “health-first, always-on gateway” for personalised AI within its wider device ecosystem.
According to the statement, simply wearing the upcoming Galaxy Watch will be enough to experience what Samsung calls “effortless wellness,” with the device working continuously in the background to make comprehensive healthcare part of the daily routine. The company said the new watch will be powered by “all-new internal components” and enhanced battery life, enabling longer and more accurate health tracking. It also pointed to AI-driven insights building on the watch’s existing sleep, rest and movement tracking, aimed at helping users manage their health in real time.
Galaxy Unpacked will take place on July 22 at 6.30pm IST, in London. While Samsung has not officially named any watch model, industry reports suggest the event will introduce the Galaxy Watch9 and Galaxy Watch Ultra2, both said to run on the Snapdragon Wear Elite chipset. The Watch9 is reportedly expected in 40mm and 44mm sizes with a larger battery than its predecessor, while the Watch Ultra2 is rumoured to adopt a boxier design with thinner bezels. Some reports also suggest the Ultra2 could be Samsung’s first smartwatch with 5G support, though this remains unconfirmed. A redesigned Samsung Health interface alongside One UI 9 Watch is also reportedly on the cards. At least one leak suggests the Galaxy Watch Classic may be skipped this year, though Samsung has not addressed this.
The watches are expected to headline alongside a busy foldable lineup, with reports pointing to as many as three new Galaxy Z Fold and Flip devices, and a possible early look at Samsung’s rumoured Android XR smart glasses — though none of this has been confirmed by Samsung.
