Mega Mewtwo X Appears in Super Mega Raids
Mega Mewtwo X made its global debut during Pokémon GO Fest 2026: Global on July 11. It appeared in a new type of battle called Super Mega Raids, which are designed to be more challenging than regular Mega Raids.
Players who defeated Mega Mewtwo X received Mewtwo Mega Energy X. This special energy allows an eligible Mewtwo to Mega Evolve into Mega Mewtwo X.
Mewtwo caught after completing a Mega Mewtwo X Super Mega Raid also knows Counter, a Fighting-type Fast Attack. In addition, every Mewtwo caught from these raids has at least one Mega Level already unlocked. Some lucky players may receive a Mewtwo at Mega Level 2 or Mega Level 3.
How to Get Mega Mewtwo X
Players must first own a Mewtwo and collect enough Mewtwo Mega Energy X. The energy can be earned by completing Mega Mewtwo X Super Mega Raids and selected Timed Research tasks.
Previously caught Mewtwo can also Mega Evolve, so players do not need to catch a completely new one. However, Mega Mewtwo X requires more Mega Energy than most other Mega-Evolved Pokémon.
Is Shiny Mega Mewtwo X Available?
Shiny Mewtwo is eligible to Mega Evolve into Shiny Mega Mewtwo X. This means players who already own a Shiny Mewtwo can use Mega Energy X to unlock its Mega form.
Mega Mewtwo X is a Psychic and Fighting-type Pokémon, which gives it a different battle role from Mega Mewtwo Y. Its powerful stats and access to Counter make it a valuable option for raids and selected battle formats.
