Weather today: Following relentless rains in parts of Himachal Pradesh, all government and private educational institutions and Anganwadis would remain shut in Himachal’s Sirmaur and Solan districts on Friday, officials said.

The MeT department said heavy rainfall was likely in many parts of the state, cautioning against possible landslides, flash floods, uprooting of trees and road blockages.

“Continuous rainfall is leading to obstruction of rural roads, increased risk of landslides and general disruption of normal life, particularly in rural and hilly areas. Such inclement weather conditions are likely to endanger the life and safety of students commuting to and from schools across the districts,” two separate orders issued by Sirmaur and Solan Deputy Commissioners (DCs) Priyanka Verma and Manmohan Sharma, respectively, said.

The two persons missing till now were Rakesh Guchait, a surveyor from West Bengal, and Vikram Rana, a construction manager from Himachal Pradesh, and it is yet to be identified whose body was recovered from near the river, the officials said, as per news agency PTI.

Mumbai weather today: Mumbai woke up to bright sunshine on Friday morning after days of overcast skies and heavy rains, although the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast occasional light to moderate showers in the city and suburbs later in the day.

The city recorded negligible rainfall in the 24 hours ending 8 am on Friday, with the island city receiving 0.34 mm of rain, the eastern suburbs 0.75 mm and the western suburbs 0.16 mm, according to the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation.

Delhi weather today: The India Meteorological Department on Friday issued a ‘yellow’ alert for New Delhi as it forecasted thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and very light to light, at places moderate, rainfall during the afternoon and evening.

The city received moderate rainfall over the past 24 hours, with Safdarjung, the city’s base station, recording 33.6 mm till 8.30 am, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

Lodhi Road received 33.7 mm of rainfall, followed by Ridge at 25.9 mm, Ayanagar at 4.2 mm and Palam at 1.8 mm during the same period.

Weather today: Heavy monsoon rain lashed large parts of West Bengal, with Cooch Behar in the northern region recording the highest rainfall of 143 mm in the 24 hours ending Friday morning.

In view of the rising water level, the district administration has intensified security measures at all Ganga ghats. Delhi weather today: As the city witnessed heavy overnight rain, at least five trees were uprooted across different parts of the national capital on Thursday, disrupting traffic, causing waterlogging, and damaging a parked car in Ranjeet Nagar, officials said.

According to the Delhi Fire Service (DFS), two trees fell on Raja Dhir Singh Marg in southeast Delhi’s East of Kailash—one near the ISKCON temple and another near the National Heart Institute, news agency PTI reported.
