Ousmane Dembélé scored a first-half hat trick as France thrashed Norway in Boston to secure top spot in Group I.

Norway made 10 changes from the side that beat Senegal, with Erling Haaland and Martin Ødegaard both rested. However, France went up with a full-strength side and reaped the rewards for it.

Dembélé put France 2-0 within 20 minutes before Thelo Aasgard grabbed a goal back for Norway. But near the half-hour mark, the Paris Saint-Germain forward notched up his hat-trick.

Norway earned a penalty soon after the break but Jorgen Strand Larsen’s tame effort was easily saved by Mike Maignan. Désiré Doué scored late in injury time to add further gloss to France’s win.

The result means they will face a third-place qualifier in New Jersey while Norway will meet Ivory Coast in Dallas.
