Belgium didn’t really click in their last fixture, with Jeremy Doku struggling to make an impact, Kevin De Bruyne still getting up to speed, and Leandro Trossard drifting about to try and make an impact.

Iran, themselves, have had plenty of disruption in this tournament and are still finding their feet.

This may well start off cagey, with De Bruyne and Trossard looking to dictate and Doku trying to find the space where he can – but if the floodgates open, the Belgians may well relax and find their rhythm.

While Iran are no pushovers, they’ll be looking to hit Belgium on the break: this is a weaker Belgian defence than we’ve seen in previous years, and Amir Ghalenoei’s men could well capitalise on a break just as Egypt tried to.

Belgium will be aware of the threat that Pro League-based Alireza Jahanbakhsh poses, while Mehdi Taremi is a seasoned finisher who could pose a threat.

Score prediction: Belgium 3-1 Iran

Belgium have attacking riches at their disposal, while should prove too much for Iran to deal with.

It shouldn’t be a completely one-sided contest, however, with both sides having weaknesses and probably wanting to approach this one with caution.
